Lakes and Ocean Hotel

The Lakes and Ocean Hotel is one of the local historic icons of Forster. Being over 145 years old, we certainly don’t look it, with our on-going renovations and improvements, the hotel has been completely transformed.  With great eating/drinking areas which have been opened up with large windows and doors opening onto the veranda, blurring the boundary between indoor and outdoor seating. The café serves breakfast, cake, tea, coffee, craft beers and cocktails. Perfect for a quiet cuppa in the morning before heading out for the day or enjoying. Situated right in town it is only a short walk to the town shops, and Forster main beach.

The Hotel offers eight Deluxe Queen size rooms with en-suite. Located directly across the road from the stunning Wallis Lake.  Four rooms open out directly onto an open veranda with the other four having access to the 180-degree views of Wallis Lake and the famous Foster Tuncurry Bridge. The eight Deluxe Queen rooms were recently refurbished ideal for couples wanting to enjoy a few nights away to take in the beautiful Forster area. The Hotel also offers budget accommodation for those just wanting to put their head down in our old pub rooms. Prices are seasonal for both types of rooms.

The Hotels Bistro is open 7 days for Lunch and Dinner and the Cafe for breakfast.  A function room is also available for any get together, personal or business with catering for any occasions.  You can sit and relax on the open verandas at the Hotel and overlook the stunning Wallis Lake while enjoying a coffee, drinks or a meal. New to The Lakes and Ocean Hotel is its infamous oyster bar with the best oysters in town.

Great pub. Very nice set up with good food and menu. Not expensive. If you like it fancy go up the road to the ‘Reef’ restaurant but if you are into great pub Schnitty or a good steak go here you will love very good ‘Pub food’ 😀

Stayed for 3 nights in what they describe as boutique accommodation. Went for a nice hot shower on the first night after a long day on the road & NO HOT WATER!
Some lame excuses from the Hotel staff then an explanation from the Manager of what went wrong the following day. Was there an apology? Was there an offer of compensation, free drink, free meal? NO, NOTHING.
Great customer service, not!
We are regular visitors to Forster & always eat & drink at the Lakes & Ocean Hotel. This was the first time we have stayed there & it will be the last.

I was quite surprised how good the rooms were for being an old hotel. House keeping was great, a shout out to Michael. The elevator was a bonus to me as I got chronic back pain. The only thing waiting to be attended to at the reception. Will be returning soon 😎

Food is great as was the stay. Small pub room with a shared bathroom but you wouldn’t know anyone was there. Worth the price for sure. Had oysters in the bar that were fantastic.
