Held on the second Sunday of September each year since 1991, the Gloucester Mountain Man Tri Challenges draws competitors from across the state.

The challenge consists of a 20.4 km mountain bike ride around the Bucketts Mountains; 10.7 km kayak paddle down the crystal clear waters of the Barrington River; and 8.8 km run along the scenic Thunderbolts Way and back into the Gloucester District Park.
The race starts at the southern end of Boundary Road with the bike leg. Cyclists ride to Bucketts Road, Stantons Lane & Faulkland Road with several cross-country circuits on the way before proceeding to Rocky Crossing on the Barrington River. The kayak leg commences at Rocky Crossing & concludes at Barrington Bridge. The run leg climbs the river bank onto Thunderbolts Way & the runner return to Gloucester.
