New walking track and temporary closure of McBrides vehicle trail

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is implementing changes which affect access to McBrides Beach at Cape Hawke, within Booti Booti National Park.

On 4 November 2020 NPWS is constructing a new walking track which commences from the Council carpark on Cape Hawke Drive down to McBrides Beach to ensure safe pedestrian access to the beach for day visitors.

The severely eroded vehicle trail to the beach is being temporarily closed, removing a major safety risk to the public while NPWS works with stakeholders to review future vehicle access.

The changes will support better protection of the natural and cultural values of McBrides Beach and surrounds by addressing impacts from current vehicle-based access to the area.
