Instagram & Facebook love Barrington Coast

Social media loves Barrington Coast

Our social media pages are booming thanks to inspiring posts during Covid-19.

Destination Barrington Coast reached another social media milestone this week with our Instagram followers passing 20,000 for the first time since the page was launched.

Meanwhile our Facebook followers have also seen a recent surge to reach over 62,300. That’s double our southern competitor Port Stephens & 4 times our northern competitor Port Macquarie!

Data insights on the pages reveal that the increase is being driven by recent inspiring posts of the many beautiful places around the Barrington Coast. We’ve been following the lead of Tourism Australia about social media posts during Covid-19 crisis: “We’ll celebrate our country’s beauty and share memories to get us through these unprecedented times. We hope our posts allow you to take a break and dream about the places you will be able to explore in the future.”

When the regional travel bans were announced on 31 March 2020, we immediately responded with our post: “Now is not the time to visit the Barrington Coast.” It was widely accepted by our social media followers who appreciated and understood our firm stand.

Our social media commentary is now firmly resting on the message “Come back for a visit, when the time to visit is right again.” This is resonating with our followers who still want to see our beautiful images being shared throughout this Covid-19 crisis.

And what about our competitors? At 7/4/20:

  • Port Macquarie has 14,800 Facebook followers & 13,100 on Instagram
  • Coffs Coast has 16,300 Facebook followers & 6,600 on Instagram
  • Port Stephens has 31,300 Facebook followers & 16,000 on Instagram
