Holiday Here This Year Support & Toolkit

Holiday Here This Year

See how Destination Barrington Coast is jumping aboard the “Holiday Here This Year” campaign and download our Toolkit.

Tourism Australia’s Holiday Here This Year is an initiative that encourages Aussies to travel domestically in 2020 by asking Australians to get out there and see their own backyard. The campaign provides a unified platform that aims to galvanise the entire tourism industry and everyday Aussies by providing an immediate call to action to holiday here.

How are Destination Barrington Coast supporting the campaign?

Messaging

We have been reluctant to be too strong on the bushfire messaging in fear of frightening visitors to cancel plans to visit. We are now taking Tourism Australia’s lead and have developed messaging that conveys some of the impact being felt in the region while still remaining optimistic to inspire Australians to be a part of this movement and ultimately drive visitation to the region.

See below an example:

Over the past few weeks and months, bushfires have torn through communities across Australia including ours.

As holidaymakers cancel plans or look elsewhere, communities like ours who rely on tourism to thrive now need your support. That’s why we’re partnering with Visit NSW and Australia.com and calling on everyone to #HolidayHereThisYear .

We invite you and your customers to be inspired by our beautiful countryside and breathtaking coastline, revisit an old favourite spot or uncover somewhere completely new.

Over the coming months we’ll be showcasing experiences and regions that could use your support across the Barrington Coast, whether it’s a day trip, an overnighter, tour or meal. It all helps.

Now more than ever, the Barrington Coast needs you to say “I’m going to holiday here this year”.

#HolidayHereThisYear #barringtoncoast

You will begin to see this messaging across our social media channels.

Social Content

Posts
We have created campaign specific social media content that will be rolled out on our channels over the next few months which uses the above messaging alongside a strong call to action to visit impacted regions. The posts will look to combine Experience within region and link business or product. Imagery will be inspirational and feature the dual Barrington Coast + Holiday Here This Year logo. See our first post in the series which was posted on launch day of the campaign. This post combines an experience (bike tour with Aussie Bike or Hike) with impacted region (Barrington Tops and Gloucester) with product (Manning Valley Naturally Beef) and industry (Accommodation Gloucester).

Once created, Destination Barrington Coast will distribute imagery and copy in a dedicated content newsletter to Barrington Coast industry. It will also be available to download via our toolkit (see below).

#Hashtags
All social media content will incorporate the campaign hashtag #HolidayHereThisYear. As well as supporting the campaign, using this hashtag on Barrington Coast’s high engaging content will have it appear in the top posts when the hashtag is searched. Being a nationwide campaign, this hashtag will be visible to thousands of potential visitors each and every day and it is our goal to have Barrington Coast front and centre.

Holiday Here This Year GIFs
We will begin using Holiday Here This Year GIFs on all Instagram Story content.
