Grants for recreational fishing

Manning River fishing Barrington Coast

Recreational fishers, fishing clubs and community groups can apply for funding to improve recreational fishing opportunities.

Water is ever-present throughout the Barrington Coast – you can fish from the mountains to the sea – and now there are grants available to strengthen this popular activity.

Recreational fishers, fishing clubs and community groups can apply for funding to improve recreational fishing opportunities and experiences in NSW through the Recreational Fishing Trusts.

Approximately $16m is collected every year from the sale of recreational fishing licences and held in trusts by the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI).

Applicants can apply for grants for small projects (less than $10,000) and large projects (from $10,000 to $300,000).

Past projects have included building or refurbishing fishing platforms and fish-cleaning facilities; installing artificial reefs; improving aquatic habitats; fish restocking programs; education and learn-to-fish days.

To discuss potential projects contact DPI on 02 4916 3835 or via email.

Apply online by Thursday 31 October 2019 at www.dpi.nsw.gov.au
